The Buddy Run benefits the NEW (North East Wake) Backpack Buddies, Wake Forest Presbyterian Backpack Buddies (serving Wakefield area schools), and Wake Forest United Methodist Backpack Buddies (serving Heritage Elementary).
Through the kindness of volunteers and generous donors, Backpack Buddies collects food and provides children with 7 meals each weekend of the school year. These children may not have a regular meal outside of school without the support of Backpack Buddies.
The Buddy Run, started in 2009, fun run and food drive will bring our friends and neighbors together to help feed children right here in our community!
Our race features a 3.1-mile run through Heritage Wake Forest, in addition to 2'ish-mile Roller Run (for scooters and skates), a 1-mile family walk and a 50’ish yard itty-bitty-buddy-dash.
In collaboration with the North East Wake Backpack Buddies, Wake Forest Elementary School, and Wake Forest Presbyterian Church, proceeds from this event are divided among the Rolesville, Wake Forest, and Wakefield Backpack Buddy programs. Together over 250 children are fed!

Race Day Information
We will have a donation truck setup on race day and are asking people to bring a pre-packaged, easy-to-open, non-perishable food item that is appropriate and healthy for small children. This is a great way to get kids involved in community service. Let them pick out their favorite (healthy) food item and give that to a child who is truly hungry!
Parking is available at the Harris Teeter parking lot on Rogers Road and Heritage Lakes Drive. If you live in Heritage Wake Forest please try to walk or ride your bike to this event and save parking for those traveling to our neighborhood.
